“First, our history with First Finishers: In May, 2014 we needed a new roof and hired Roofing Pros which did a stellar job, working closely with us to solve inadequate venting that caused a shortened life on the existing roofing. They have a business relationship with First Finishers. We attended a remodeling fair in Yelm and met Kai and Tim Fyrst.
Our first remodel was a new sidewalk, kitchen counters and back splash. The bid was reasonable, and the process, much like that with Roofing Pros, unique in a very positive way. From the beginning Kai spent a lot of time just listening and thinking as we shared our dreams and he worked to integrate that with the realities of construction. Jeff, the concrete guy, turned out to be an artist that grieved over every detail of the colored, stamped and sealed sidewalk and overcame every obstacle including an incorrect weather forecast on pour day. Similarly, the kitchen counter tops and back splash project encountered challenges that were met and overcome to our complete satisfaction. Both projects turned out to be the visually dramatic statements we were hoping for.
May of 2016 found us ready to remove the existing deck and replace it with 2 ‘fancy’ concrete patios connected by a covered deck. The southern patio included a colored sun dial and the north a fire pit. While removing the old deck the crew encountered 2 small spots of rot in the house that were completely repaired. The foundation and framing for the deck is very solid. The crew worked with me to give me time to paint as needed. Both the patios and deck stunningly transformed the visual appearance of the house.
All we can say is WOW! When people visit our house they are first impressed with the front walk, then the kitchen counters and finally the patios and deck.
And we cannot wait for the crew to come back to transform and modernize the master bath and upstairs flooring.”

“My wife and I decided to gut a 35 year old condo. We selected First Finishers as our contractor based on the recommendation of our designer.
Needless to say, there were a number of “issues” that needed to be addressed: to comply with code, for safety, and to provide the home we wanted. These issues included tight spaces, utilities and gas that needed to be moved, and 17 inch thick concrete floors and ceilings.
I don’t think I have ever met a more positive and results oriented individual than John Sullivan. During the project he never said to me that there was a “problem”, only “opportunities to address”.
First Finishers did what they said they would, did it when they said they would, and did it how they said they would. First Finishers had respectful and capable workers who worked efficiently, and cleaned up each day.

“I’m going to gush a bit. These guys were terrific!
Had our 17 year old hardwood floors refinished and they are beautiful. But I really have to say they were so careful and concerned about the dust issue. They use a new dustless sanding system, taped all the kitchen cupboards and drawers, and installed temporary plastic barriers over the doorways. End result was little to no dust for me to clean up. The guys even wiped down the kitchen counters and cabinets when they were done – that extra step was well appreciated! AND – they moved my fridge back into the kitchen when they were done. We are really pleased with the work ethic and the floors are stunning.”

“We were advised to pull up our carpet and replace it with a carpet free alternative to help our son with his allergies. Feeling overwhelmed and financially strained, we put the project off. Two years later, we knew we needed to make the change for our son.
We met with Kai Fyrst, one of the owners of First Finishers. He immediately put us at ease. We learned of a high quality Belgian type laminate flooring that they install. It is environmentally friendly, which was a huge must for us. It is beautiful! It doesn’t look fake like many other laminates, and it is super durable.
During this time, we also decided to redo our vinyl bathroom floors. John Sullivan, an expert at their showroom helped us match our new Belgian laminate along with our current cabinets and molding. He has a natural knack for matching materials!
We also loved our laminate installer, Wes! He was filled with integrity and strove for perfection.
We are extremely grateful for Kai! He is honorable, kind, and a true master of his craft.

“While the terms “home renovations” and “pleasure” rarely belong in the same sentence, it was a genuine pleasure working with First Finishers. Kai, Sully from The Showroom, and the entire crew are exceptional.
We purchased an older home that had multiple additions and updates from various decades. We wanted to create a cohesive feel to help tie the house together and hired First Finishers to install gorgeous hardwood floors throughout, hex tile floors in several bathrooms, a bit of luxurious carpet, a full larger format subway tile kitchen backsplash, subway tile tub surround, new toilets, new bathroom fixtures, several new bathroom vanities, and new doors and trim throughout the house. The result was STUNNING! We absolutely love our new home.

“I purchased a home and wanted to upgrade the floors before moving in. The existing floors had a small amount of white oak flooring in the entry way, dining room and hallway adjacent to the great room. I wanted to extend the hardwood by replacing the carpet in the master bedroom and great room and the vinyl in the kitchen. The outdated vinyl in the laundry room and bath also needed to be replaced with a more appealing vinyl.
By way of reference through our realtor, First Finishers was contacted about doing all this work. They promptly came out to discuss our upgrades and options, worked with me and a flooring supplier to select vinyl, and identified that the existing floor was white oak and said they thought it would be possible to feather the new hardwood in with the old for a consistent look.
The hardwood was delivered promptly and properly allowed to acclimate before installation. The guys were diligent in doing the work, communicated well, and completed the job on time and within budget. Care was taken to protect the rest of the house from dust during sanding and refinishing, and the cleanup afterwards was meticulous..
I was astounded at how beautiful the floors turned out! I could not tell where the old and new hardwood was blended and the finish and attention to detail was spectacular. They even took the time to trace the outline of the river rock hearth and custom scroll sawed the floor to fit flush against it. The transitions between the hardwood, carpeted area and vinyl were seamless.
We had a single issue in the laundry room where the vinyl raised up a little against the door threshold, creating a potential high wear spot. We called on a Friday to see if they could take a look and a guy was there the next day, on a Saturday, to repair it.
First Finishers work is first rate, their communication is excellent, rates are reasonable, and they are very pleasant to work with. We are happy to give them our highest recommendation and will use them for future work we have planned.”
